A billboard is a magazine - ISNOT magazine on a rainy Melbourne street.

WikiWaki

Wikis open the window to a new collaborative way of sharing information between people. Lots of good ideas in this session - sure to be able to put some to good use!

I found the article on the value of Wikipedia very interesting. We hear lots about the accuracy of Wikipedia, but we all use it - I use it more and more to find out basic facts about a wide range of things. It is sometimes a starting point for finding out, and sometimes I need to look no further, get lost in following links, learning more all the time..... I think academia needs to climb down from the ivory tower and accept that collaborative digital environments are central to learning today. They represent the new language of learning.

The ability to develop information collaboratively gives a whole new dimension to the term communities of interest - information for the community developed by the community.

Web 2.0 and me

Web 2.0 has opened a new window into the way we communicate and connect with each other. We can share information about things new and exciting, participate in a dialogue about anything at all, chat, create content, comment, or simply share images around our lives and interests.

It is all about being connected - with ourselves, with others, with the world at large. An ever evolving set of tools to connect and to learn is being collectively created at this moment that make linking with others easy. Blogs and wikis are part of our daily working lives, and I hope to learn more about where Web 2 technologies can take me!
